From global health to climate change, AI, technology and business leadership, our community uses pioneering research, collaboration and industry partnerships to tackle some of the world’s most urgent challenges.

We’re consistently recognised as a global top 10 university and the only London Russell Group university rated Gold by the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023.

We’re also the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide’s University of the Year for Graduate Employment 2024. Many of the world’s top employers know our graduates’ reputation as exceptionally bright, entrepreneurial and hard-working.

Our students are always in high demand. From day one, they get dedicated support to prepare for their future career – plus all the benefits of studying in London, where industry, policy and global cultures converge.

We have some of the best-resourced entrepreneurship facilities in the UK – with mentoring, start-up prize funds and a top-spec prototyping hackspace. This means our students have everything they need to turn an idea into real-world impact.

International students

We’re proud to be a place where people with scientific imagination from all over the world find a home.

We offer a range of scholarships for international students and our dedicated International Student Support team is available year-round. Whether it’s about visas, moving to the UK or social activities, the team can help students feel at home.

Our Centre for Academic English can also support international students prepare for the challenges of studying in English, including pre-sessional courses to boost academic English skills and settle in.

We offer an accommodation guarantee for first year undergraduates who pick Imperial as their firm choice and meet our terms and conditions. Our accommodation contracts cover the whole academic year, meaning students don’t need to move out in the holidays.

What’s more, we’ve got over 370 student-led clubs and societies – including more than 60 cultural societies – where students can meet new friends, share hobbies and learn new skills.

Stories

There are so many things I love about Imperial: my course, the facilities, and the opportunities I’ve been given. But the best thing is the Imperial community. I’ve met people from all over the world. It’s shown me that no matter where you come from, whatever our differences, there are common struggles and interests that you can relate to people with. If I hadn’t come to Imperial, I would never have met some of my closest friends! The international community, and the efforts that Imperial puts into maintaining this, are the things I most enjoy.

Juproop (UK), Chemical Engineering

Imperial’s location in London was a big factor in my decision to do a Master’s here. Living in London as an international student has been an incredibly enriching experience for me. The city’s diverse culture, vibrant atmosphere and endless opportunities for personal and professional growth make it an exciting place to live and study.

Oluwafemi (Nigeria), Materials

London is such a diverse city with a large international student population that you are guaranteed to find your community. A lot of international students hold meet-ups in their respective countries before moving, which helps make the move much easier as you already have friends. Imperial’s International Student Support team also provides a lot of support to help you settle in, such as blogs on getting around London or organising events and trips. All these resources helped immensely to seamlessly make London my home.
